Everything a text expander should do
And nothing that gets in the way.
Works everywhere
Expands in any Windows app: browsers, Outlook, Word, Slack, code editors.
Imports Breevy libraries
Reads your existing Breevy or aBreevy8 abbreviations, folders and settings, including typo-correction lists.
Smart case
Type Teh or TEH and get The or THE. Choose per snippet: exact, ignore case, or adapt.
Protected snippets
Passwords and other secrets are encrypted with a master password and unlock for a few minutes when you need them.
Scheduled backups
Automatic backups to a local folder, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox, or your own SFTP server.
Sync across PCs
Coming soon: sign in on every computer and your snippets follow you, end-to-end encrypted.
We can't read your snippets. Nobody can.
Your snippets are encrypted on your computer before anything leaves it. Your Freevy password never reaches our server: your browser or the app turns it into a key locally and sends only a one-way proof that you know it.
That also means we cannot reset your data for you. When you sign up you get a recovery key. Keep it somewhere safe.
- End-to-end encryption. AES-256-GCM, with a key derived from your password using Argon2id.
- Zero-knowledge sign-in. The server stores a hash of a hash. Your password and keys stay on your devices.
- Two locks for secrets. Protected snippets need your master password too, even on a signed-in PC.
- Hosted in the EU. Account data is stored in Europe and handled under the GDPR.
Questions
Is Freevy really free?
Yes. The Windows app is free to use. Accounts are invite-only while sync is in early access.
Can I keep using my Breevy abbreviations?
Yes. On first start Freevy finds your Breevy library and imports it. Your Breevy files are left untouched.
What happens if I forget my password?
Use your recovery key to set a new password and keep your synced snippets. Without it we can reset the account, but encrypted data cannot be recovered.
Do I need an account?
No. The app works fully offline. An account is only needed for sync across computers.
